Bubba's Birthday!!

I managed to recover from the bout of the flu I had last week (here's were you send me the sympathetic emails) to celebrate Mason's birthday yesterday.

Since he is car obsessed - to put it mildly - Luis and I decided that the only gift we could possibly give him would be a car he could drive himself. Here he is with it. Its a 55 Chevy (I think) complete with flames on the side. He rode it much of the day yesterday and out in the wetness today. He even got mad when I told him it was time to come inside today. I was called a "big sock baby". Perhaps veteran mothers can tell me what that means but I don't think its a good thing.

We're continually told which of our kids look like us. I'll let you decide for yourselves, though it isn't too tough. Here's me at about age 3 followed by a picture of Siena tearing it up at Malibu Grand Prix yesterday. Clearly, she gets her dark hair from her Daddy's Puerto Rican genetics but, there is a bit of similarity otherwise. And thank goodness because once you see the corresponding Luis/Mason pictures to follow, you'll see what I mean.

And here's my hubby at about 5 years old. For anyone who has ever met Mason, I'm sure the similarities are striking. They are for me. Its like Luis' "Mini Me"

The above picture is Mason and his daddy playing a car racing game at Malibu Grand Prix yesterday. My dad's Oldsmobile 442 club was having their annual pilgramige to Malibu which, near as I could tell, consists of a fun group of 50 and 60 year olds getting their groove on driving the Malibu race cars. My father was an active participant. We figured, what better way to celebrate Mason's birthday than at Malibu, an establishement dedicated to cars. Unfortunately he was too small to even ride with Luis on the 2 seater cars. He didn't mind though. He had a great time playing the games inside. He even hit the Jackpot twice on one game and won enough tickets to buy himself a Water Weenie. Its the 4 year old equivalent of winning $50 at Blackjack in Vegas.
We had lunch with YaYa (Grandma Jan) and Papa Ron after Malibu so it was an exciting day for the kids. See how exciting it was for Siena:

I especially like the chocolate on the mouth, courtesy of a mint from The Village.
Well, I can't believe my baby Mason is 4 but, to avoid sounding totally cliche, I won't say "time goes by so fast"... I will say that it seems that every age and stage is my favorite and this is no different. He's a fun little guy to spend time with, talk to, and play with. He's smart and inquisitive and, of course, loves his cars. Luis and I couldn't have asked for a better little boy.
