The Last 8 Months - Part 3

The next installment of this holiday weekend blog-a-thon just includes a bunch of randomness from the spring, starting with Easter.  Since the kids are older now, a regular egg hunt just isn't challenging enough for them so we had to make it a little tougher - treasure hunt style.

The clues took them all over the 2 acres between our property and my parents.  I could barely keep up with them to take pictures.
Making use of the heavy equipment as a clue.
Of course there's a clue in the porta-potty.
And in the bbq.
And by the creek.
In the end, the clues were too easy for them.  This is going to be way tougher next year!
The kids found their loot under the 442 in the shop.
The clues...
Driving home from work one night, a 17 year old kid took a left directly in front of me, essentially totaling my Escape which I've had for 13 years.  The good news is everyone was okay, except for my car.
As if that wasn't bad enough, poor Mason got appendicitis and had to have surgery.  He got that bear in the hospital and named it Lappy - short for laproscopic appendectomy.
Within a week he was back to his old self!!  He proved to be a tough kid throughout the ordeal.
And I ended up with my first brand new car - this Mazda CX5!  I LOVE it!!
We're trying to be active and do more hiking this summer, starting with this outing to Champoeg park on a beautiful spring day.
The flowers were in bloom.
We enjoyed the river views.
The fam resting.
Siena had her spring piano recital performing a great version of Let it Go.
Siena with her piano teacher and the other students who performed in the recital.
Just some kid after dinner gelato cuteness.
Siena and her Daddy on a little bench.
Another family hike - this time for Mother's Day at Multnomah Falls.
After mile 1 Siena was already tired.  The whole loop was about 3 miles up and 3 miles downhill - not much flat.
The views were beautiful though!
Happy kids at the falls.
I've seen it 100 times and it's still gorgeous!
Who can resist Tommy in his box.
We've been fortunate enough to attend a couple of Thorns games already this summer.  Here's the kids and I at our first game of the year.
Mason turned 12 in May.  He decided this year that instead of having a big party with his friends, he wanted to go to Great Wolf Lodge.  Great Wolf Lodge is a resort with an indoor water park.  In addition, there are out of water activities all over.  We got adventure passes for the kids so there was never a dull moment.
Each of the kids got to pick out a critter!!
After a rough start to the weekend involving locking the key fob in the car and Luis not having any swim trunks (something about them being in storage), we got it all sorted out and had a great time.

Hike #3 of the summer!  This time we went up to Mt. Hood near Government Camp.  It was hot and tough but a good hike.  And a big mushroom.
The best part may have been the big lunch afterward.
